I spend 12 years in France as a child. I have fond memories of watching the toy sailboats on this pond. They were for rent from a rolling cart. I made up the sailboats and little girl in this scene.  This is a typical day in Paris with grayish skies.

Art & Architecture are natural companions. In fact, many artists find inspiration in architectural designs, while architects are inspired by fine art. It comes as no surprise that many trained architects are responsible for the creation of fine art today.

  • Kroc Center of Memphis (map)

Join Gary Gibson and me this Sunday July 10th for a reception from 1-3:30 PM at the KROC Center Gallery. Runs through August 8th.

Here are a few of my paintings going in the show:

Lonely Bench in Summer- Dixon Gardens

I paint often at the Dixon Gardens. I love the blue shadows across the light colored gravel, and lush summer greens. This bench is waiting for you to sit and enjoy the garden.

Oh, The Water is Cold! St George Island, FL

These are the kids of one of my painter friends' trying to brave the cold water. They were nice enough to stay there a few minutes so I could try to capture their resemblance.

Self Portrait Under a Pear Tree

I began this scene with a smaller "plein air" or on location painting.  I then developed it into a larger study and added myself into the scene later.

Stop by Sunday if you can, otherwise it's up until August 8.  The gallery is just to the left once you enter the main entry doors- the gallery is open to the public.   I have a large self portrait I'm exhibiting for the first time, and paintings from trips to Florida, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, and France. Gary is exhibit some fantastic nature scenes from around the South.  Runs through August 8.

MBG Poster 300.jpg

This exhibit of artwork features a collection of oil paintings I created mostly on location or “en plein air” alongside all types of water bodies from seas to creeks. The intent of these paintings created on location is always to immerse myself in the subject, no pun intended! Well actually, I have been in the water before or after painting it a few times, an exhilarating experience at waterfalls!  After deciding on a composition, I try to reflect deeply about what I am painting, with a listening eye in a sense, then I translate it back to you in paint. Another title for this exhibit might easily have been “Drinking Beauty”, for that is essentially what I am doing.
